The American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) was founded in 1924 as a national non-profit association open to all privately owned schools of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences. Today, the organization has grown to include 650 member schools across the nation.
The goal of the AACS is to keep its member schools abreast with information about new teaching methods, current industry events, and updates regarding state and federal legislation affecting cosmetology education and its students. In order to educate its membership of top players in the cosmetology education industry, AACS conducts a series of seminars, conferences and conventions held throughout the year. The largest AACS-sponsored event each year is its annual Convention & Expo.
AACS member offerings include services and education that targets the needs of cosmetology school owners, staff and educators. These programs aim to enhance school performance, expand knowledge, and help build a strong community of peers.
AACS also partners with others to offer greater networking opportunities for students through its student shows. Also, the organization's Web sites provide a comprehensive collection of professional resources specifically designed for the cosmetology education industry.
The American Association of Cosmetology Schools’ Government Relations Committee (GRC) represents AACS and its members before matters involving the executive and legislative branches of the Federal Government. The GRC's goal is to review, analyze and/or evaluate and respond to legislative, regulatory and programmatic issues affecting cosmetology students and schools. Toward that end, AACS' accreditation committee keeps member schools informed about state and federal accreditation news and updates. |
